What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit. Since control is generally easier on the ground than in a standing position, much of the technique of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is centered around the skill of taking an opponent down to the ground and wrestling for dominant control positions from where the opponent can be rendered harmless.

To control and overcome greater size, strength, and aggression with lesser size and strength is the keynote of the sport. This is done by utilizing superior leverage, grip, and position upon your opponent. Students of the sport gain a deep understanding of the workings and limits of the human body.

What ages do you teach?

We offer classes to those 5 years of age and older.  Schedule a free intro class to see if we are a good fit for your needs.  Please note that the free intro class is also for the coaching staff to see if you or your child is a good fit for our team.  Our team’s safety is our number one priority, and we cannot take away from their learning time to address teammates that are constantly goofing off and being a distraction in the learning environment.

What is the best way to schedule a free intro class?

Simply fill out the contact form for the program that you are interested in.  You’ll be directed to our THANK YOU page when you’ve completed the form and you’ll receive an email with more information about the program.  Please be sure to check your SPAM box due to Frequency Martial Arts not being one of your confirmed email contacts.

Do I Need Prior Experience To Try Your Program?

No.  None of the teammates or even the coaching staff had any prior experience before stepping onto the mats for the first time as a student.

Do I Need To Be In Shape To Get Started?

No.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great way TO GET INTO SHAPE.  You’ll tone muscles, improve flexibility, and improve your cardio as you improve your mental health by training with the team at Frequency Martial Arts.

Do You Have Women On The Team?

Yes, women train on the mats in our adult classes.  If you’re a female and would like to schedule your free 1 on 1 intro class with one of our female coaches, we can arrange that for you.

Do You Offer Drop Ins?

We do allow individuals traveling to the area for work or visiting family to drop in to train with the team, but you need to contact us first to ensure we do not have several intro classes booked during your visit.

How Much Are Classes?
